The most popular of all the Hollywood studio tours but cannot really be compared to the others as the theme park here is at the heart of a real working Hollywood movie studio. You’ll be seated on a tram and with Jimmy Fallon as your video host and you’ll be guided through 13 city blocks of studio history. This will include a drive past the famous Bates Motel from Alfred Hitchock’s “Psycho”, a visit from the ocean depth’s with Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws” as well as a King Kong 3D attraction. Paramount Studios Tour
Experience 100 years of film-making history with Hollywood’s longest operating movie studio. You’ll be part of a small group where a knowledgeable guide will take you on a behind-the-scenes look at this world famous studio. Perhaps the most intimate of all the studio tours, you’ll get to see real movie sets with all the lights, cables and set pieces. Some of the tours are by tram and others are done on foot while some combine the two. Depending on how much time you have and what you want to experience, you can choose between the Studio Tour or the VIP Studio Tour. a more in depth, insiders experience that offers VIP access to the archives and production facilities. It also includes parking. Most of the tours have an age limit. Cart or tram tours of the studio behind the famous Paramount Arches are offered several times a day, Monday through Friday. Sony Pictures Studio Tour
If you prefer walking then you might just like the Sony Pictures Tour in Culver City. At the former home of MGM, here you’ll take a 2-hour walking tour of the studio with an informed tour guide with an insider’s view of a state-of-the-art motion picture studio. Walk down the yellow brick road through Munchkinland, tip-toe through cities that one day may be Paris and the next, Washington D.C. You’ll see some of the sets, like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. The chances of seeing actors are pretty slim, although it does happen occasionally. Stop at the Studio Emporium after and shop for a couple of souvenirs to take home. Warner Brothers Tour
With a knowledgeable tour guide, Warner Brothers will treat guests to visits to sound stages, sets, back lot streets and behind-the-scenes news on a two hour and 15 minute tour around the ten acre lot. Guests can view props and costumes from other memorable movies and TV shows like “Friends” and the “Gilmore Girls”. Harry Potter fans will be delighted to visit the Warner Brothers Museum as one floor is dedicated to the popular movie. Choose from three tours: VIP, Deluxe or a Group tour. Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio
Don’t miss your opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Old West on the streets of this historic film studio. Opened in 1915 and located in Santa Clarita, Melody Ranch has served as the backdrop for countless of films since the days of Gene Autry and Tom Mix. The Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio houses one of the world’s largest collections of one-of-a-kind movie memorabilia from the last nine decades. The Museum, located on the 22 acre movie studio lot, offers a unique western town with working interiors like a saloon, bank, jail, general store, hotel, church, KFC, school, livery stable and theatre. Countless western films have been produced at this location including The Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy, Wyatt Earp and most recently Quentin Tarantino’s film Django Unchained. Only open to the public for the Cowboy Festival weekend. (In 2015 this will be on April 15-19).
