CicLAvia: Culver City
The term CicLAvia (Spanish for “bike way”) can also be used to describe a temporary closing of LA’s streets. The event—inspired by the first Ciclovías in Bogotá, Colombia—welcomes bicycles, tricycles, skateboards and strollers on a car-free route starting at the Expo Line terminus in Culver City and running for six miles to Venice Beach and back. The block of Venice Boulevard east of Centinela is now available too so that participants can get to the Mar Vista Farmers Market on Grand View Boulevard and the assortment of bike shops around that corner. New to the block is Sweet Lucie’s, a husband-and-wife organic ice cream shop next door to Venice Grind. Expect music, street performances and lots of tasty food trucks.
