After taking a private luxury tour with LAdventure Tour , we are sure that you will have worked up an appetite! The Los Angeles area has so much to offer when it comes to places to eat and we here at LAdventure Tour can offer many suggestions! Here are a few of our favorites.
Downtown:
Bestia
Husband and wife team Ori Menashe (former chef of Angelini Osteria) and Chef Genevieve Gergis and bought one of Los Angeles’ most talked about restaurants in the old warehouse area of downtown Los Angeles. The setting is industrial, which is the basis of the decor. Designer Greg Bleier, chefs Ori and Genevieve were very industrious in the making of the ambiance of this restaurant and that makes your first visit here appear as an adventure in itself. That, plays a distant second to the plethora of seasonal dishes that Bestia offers. Chef Ori maintains an aggressive house-cured meats program with over 60 different forms of charcuterie for Bestia. (Bestia means Beast in Italian). Chef Ori is also responsible for raising his own yeast culture which he uses to bake Bestia’s sourdough Pain au Levain, used as toast ubiquitously on the menu, as well as for the pizza dough, which rises and falls over a 24-hour cycle prior to being composed as a Napolitana pizza and baked in the Acunto (wood-burning) oven at ~900 degrees. Bestia makes many forms of fresh pastas, of which fusilli, agnolotti, and cassarece are only a few. Reservations can be difficult, but there are usually seats available for walk-ins by the kitchen, The seating is sushi style, where you can watch the chefs in action and up close.
Beverly Hills:
Il Fornaio
An inexpensive option and right in the heart of Beverly Hills. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game. The house made pastas come Italian style, meaning large healthy servings. The pizzas are from an oak wood burning oven with fresh salads and house made soups. There is also a wide variety of desserts. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy’s chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means “the Baker” in Italian and there is fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.
Hollywood:
Beachwood Cafe
This little gem located on Beachwood Drive beneath the hills where the world famous Hollywood sign stands, this relatively new eatery is still perhaps known largely to the locals. The Beachwood Cafe is both affordable and offers truly unique dishes. All of the food has a homemade quality to it and although the setting is not as fancy as a 5-star restaurant, the taste surpasses all expectation. Serving American food, this cafe infuses their menu with Asian and Mediterranean accents with everything being made from scratch. Two extremely good dishes are the Dover Sole stuffed with shiso and enoki mushrooms in a bowl of glass noodles and the Bulgogi Hot Stone Bowl, sauteed with marinated beef with steamed rice is a delight. They are also vegan and vegetarian-friendly. A unique fact about Beachwood is that most of their dishes are named after infamous spots in the Los Angeles area. For breakfast, you can choose from Beachwood, Bronson, Laurel, Runyon and even Mt Olympus, all which are well-known streets in LA.
Santa Monica:
Blue Plate Oysterette
For you seafood lovers, the Blue Plate Oysterette is a gem. You’ll think you’re on the East Coast with it’s simply prepared though excellent and creative menu. This eatery was inspired by East Hampton summer lobster bakes and mouthwatering lunches at Montauk’s favorite roadside eateries. With influences like Le Bernadin and Auqa Grill from New York City, you’ll really appreciate the seafood here. As an appetizer, the Ceviche Mixto is excellent with both its taste and freshness. The Red Trout and the Lobster Roll are both mouthwatering. Try the key lime pie for dessert. Oysterette serves lunch and dinner seven days a week. The staff is friendly and you easily can spend several hours here as the energy of the place is great.
Malibu:
Meastro‘s Ocean Club
Located right on Malibu Beach, you can’t be seated at a restaurant with a better seaside view. Whether you’d prefer a tasty broiled steak or some sumptuous fish, you will be right at home here. Try the seared ahi tuna as a starter. Highly recommended! Main course dishes include rack of lamb, tuna burger and you won’t find a better steak anywhere in the city. The lobster mashed potatoes are delicious while the Alaskan crab black truffle gnocchi makes an excellent side dish. The menu is a little pricey but the portions are very large and you won’t be disappointed. You will need a reservation for a beachside table and the most popular time to eat here is when the sun goes down. So try and book well in advance for that beautiful sunset dinner.
