AIDS Walk Los Angeles
Join tens of thousands of walkers in the largest AIDS fundraising event in Southern California. The opening ceremony is scheduled to kick off at 9:15 a.m. at West Hollywood Park with public officials and celebrities expected to attend the event. AIDS Walk Los Angeles is strongly backed by the corporate community as well. This year’s supporters include Delta Air Lines, Paramount, Macy’s, Time Warner Cable, Toyota, Wells Fargo as well as the City of West Hollywood. The 10-kilometer walk will begin and end at the park. The crowd will head east on Santa Monica Boulevard, south on La Cienega Boulevard, east on Melrose Avenue, south on La Brea Avenue, west on Beverly Boulevard and north on San Vicente Boulevard. The annual event raises money for AIDS Project Los Angeles and more than 20 other related organizations in the county. The money goes toward providing food, dental care, housing and other necessities for people with HIV or AIDS. The event draws teams of schools, churches, families and friends, some of whom have participated every year since its inception in 1985. Over the years, the walks have raised a total of more than $79 million.

CicLAvia: Heart of L.A.
Since 2010, hundreds of thousands of people have participated in CicLAvia, temporarily transforming nearly 100 miles of city streets into a large urban park and community oasis. CicLAvia was launched to remove cars from streets for one day and open them to other forms of non-motorized transit like cyclists and pedestrians, skateboards and rollerblades. This CicLAvia route takes bikers, walkers, runners and other non-drivers through the open streets of Los Angeles and brings together densely populated and diverse neighbourhoods through a bike route. The event now attracts over 100,000 participants and expands to connect even more neighborhoods. There are plans in the works to have CicLAvia as a once a month event soon.
